CHOCOLATE MOUSSE (CHOCOLATE CHANTILLY)

Recipe by Herve This & Heston Blumenthal

Ingredients
4 servings
  • 9.35 ounces (265 grams) bittersweet (%70 cocoa solids) chocolate, chopped (preferably Valrhona Guanaja)
  • 1 cup (240 ml) water
  • 4 tbsp sugar, optional
Method
  1. Place a large mixing bowl on top of another slightly smaller one, filled with ice and cold water (the bottom of the large bowl should touch the ice). Set aside.
  2. Put chocolate and water (also sugar and/or liquor if you’re using) in a medium-sized pan and melt the chocolate over medium heat, stirring occasionally.
  3. Pour the melted chocolate into the mixing bowl sitting on top of ice and water, and start whisking with a wire whisk (or an electrical hand-held mixer) until thick. Watch the texture as you whip and make sure not to over-whip as it will make the mousse grainy. If the mousse becomes grainy (which is possible at your first try), transfer it back into the pan, reheat until half of it is melted, pour it back to the mixing bowl and whisk again briefly.
  4. Divide into four serving cups and serve immediately.

Montréal s'il vous plaît?

Did you know, there is this company out of Montreal called, Creative Flats that was created in 2000 to serve a growing clientele looking for high-end furnished spaces for rent, designed and outfitted with refined amenities?! Check it out, they are stunning!
One of my personal favorites currently, clean whites with mid-century modern pieces and fifties accent colours - xx
And secondly the corner loft in the industrial style historic building with polished cement floor and a fine mix of retro modern pieces and industrial touches -
I am loving both equally! Which would you choose ??

Gotta get that look!

30 Day Drawing Challenge

I saw this today and I instantly loved the idea. Starting May 1st, I’ll be taking the challenge and drawing each day.  If you’d like to do it on your own, please please do! If you’d like to share your drawing on my blog, just email it to me the day of.  It doesn’t matter if you start now and submit them later or sketch them throughout May. It’s just a great way to encourage myself to sketch daily and maybe you need that encouragement too!

Clean, Calm & Colourful!

Interior Designer, Alexandra Angle out of LA has fine tuned this home to the max!  Every detailed has been thought through precisely.  Flawlessly achieving a matter of surprise through colour and patterns from room to room.  The design scheme compliments the interior to exterior space very well and has great storage solutions to kick!  I am more than impressed, she is definitely a designer I would dream to work with.

Creative Envy

I love this studio that belongs to danish artist Tenka Gammelgaard.
Whether you use it to work from home, just for fun or only write cheques, it pays to make a studio that's both functional and inspiring.  Making yourself a beautiful work space at home will improve the time spent working in it. It can also be the best way to keep focused and be productive in those hours spent working on or trying to make magic on your project.  Whether your studio is a room or a corner make it inspiring!
Organize all your tools so you have everything at hand, ready for you!

Ultimately it's about changing the perception of your work space.  If you take the time to enjoy the workspace you will be surprised to discover a more positive mindset to going to work at home.

Trend Alert

Crown has just released their colour trends for 2011 – think vibrant and earthy, bold yet subtle.... It is always hard to make a decision about adding color to your home, it defines the mood of the space and as a result has a lot to do with how you feel in your space. With the mood of a color palette also comes the mood of the interior design – accents and furniture, though I am a firm believer that anything works if it is done with assertion. xo K
Keep in mind staying outside with the colour trend amethyst. For spring there is softer tones of amethyst, biloba and lavender, with teal and flax yellow, rather than the glitzy eggplant-fuchsia and plums, paired with black and silver, that are currently dazzling in homewares. Try painting your garden furniture, lap trays and outdoor lanterns in these colours from Crown, you’ll easily recreate this colourful scene and be right on trend next year.
Gold is very striking!! This is certainly my favourite style from their Colour Trends 2011 shoot – not least because of the vibrant 1970s-esque orange features and tarnished brass... I am really digging these colours!
Natural Primary trend we’re back outside with splashes of unadulterated red, yellows and – greens!
Nudes… This colour palette doesn’t wallow in beige and anaemic skin tones but glows with soft peaches and blushing cheeks. Grey has become so popular lately and, conversely, warms up a room as we can see here.

Think retro with a bright turquoise and soft grey colour palette for our return to the 1950s !!

Party Time!

Wedding season is on the rise!! I love these outfit pairings by BHLDN that demonstrate wedding party dresses worn for the big day and after the fact... I am so excited!

Family Fun

So often I hear people say, "Our house is not modern" I think that is why I love this family home sooo much.  It is a historic Georgian building in Somerset, England and London designer Ilse Crawford, has restored it and has given it new light — as a family house, for a modern family.
FEAST ON THIS — At one end of Dinder House’s former ballroom, the dining area has a custom marquetry cabinet by Studio Job, a dining table by Moooi and Rody Graumans’s 85 Lamps chandelier for Droog.
The other end of the ballroom is now home to the kitchen, the heart of the house.
The living room's hand-blocked wallpaper is a foil for contemporary furniture like Geoffrey Harcourt's Cleopatra chaise and Crawford's mirrored table for Baleri Italia.
DOMESTIC TRANQUILITY — Scenic wallpaper lines the master bedroom.
The children's den, with a pouf by Donna Wilson and a paper chanderlier! xxx
Every touch is just beautiful - I am more than happy to see this modern family home xoxox

Loving Trad Home

The premiere issue of Trad Home (collaboration between Lonny Magazine and Traditional Home) was released yesterday and it is all around amazing!! If you haven't peeked at it yet, take some time and enjoy!

Style for Style

She's got that look! and it is looking great! What a fantastic color inspiration!
Think of your room as an outfit and style accordingly.  If you wouldn't wear it then why live in it?  Your style of living should reflect who you are and what you love!

A Fabulous Find

One thing I have absolutly fallen in love with by blogging, is the excitement of a cool find.  Like when I am flipping through blogs and reading other peoples thoughts, and then their idea's strike an idea for me.  I love the creative inspiration of it.  This afternoon I was more than taken away when I stumbled upon the lovely Jessica Comingore of Destined to Design, who is an interior designer based in Los Angeles, California.  I am now a big fan of her aesthetic, and daily inspiration that ranges from fashion to architecture on her beautifully curated blog.  But then I find one of her Wanderlust entries, on Vancouver Island! I was thrilled! The past few days I have been in Tofino and it reminded me that yes, Vancouver Island is Lust worthy!

I'll have what She's having!

I know summer is just around the corner but I am loving this whole outfit! Yup, jacket, shoes.. Please and thanks! This gal is doin' it and doin' it gooood!

{make it} Mini Spinach Dip Bread Bowls...

Spinach-dip-mini-bread-bowl1
Spinach-dip-mini-bread-bowl2
Apparently these are super easy! and super tasty! Im excited to try this!...here's how:
You'll need:
13.3 oz roll of refrigerated french bread loaf, like Simply Pillsbury
2 Tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
2 Cups baby spinach, coarsely chopped
1 clove fresh garlic, minced
3 oz softened cream cheese
1/2 Cup light sour cream
2 Tablespoons fresh shredded parmesan cheese
1/8 teaspoon Chile Pepper or Cayenne Pepper
1/8 teaspoon Garlic Salt
1/8 teaspoon Sea Salt
1/8 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
1/3 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
Here's how:
1.  Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.  Spray 10 muffin cups with non stick cooking spray.  Unroll package of french bread loaf and slice into 10 equal size slices, about 1 inch thick.  Press each slice into about a 3 inch round, I did this by pressing in between my hands.  Press into the bottom and up sides of the muffin cup.  Set aside.
2.  Heat oil in medium skillet over medium heat.  Cook and stir spinach until wilted, about 3 minutes then add garlic, cook and stir for another minute then turn heat off.
3.  Place cream cheese, sour cream, cooked spinach and garlic, Parmesan Cheese, Chili Powder, garlic salt, salt and pepper into a medium bowl.  Mix until well combined.  With a medium cookie scoop, scoop dip into each of the centers of bread bowls.  Top evenly with shredded cheese and bake for 15-17 minutes until just turning brown on edges. Remove and let cool for 3-5 minutes before removing from oven.
