Michelle Adams "went mad for" Linda McCartney: Life in Photographs, and I can understand why.
When a brief stint at Town & Country magazine got her a press pass to a Rolling Stones promotional event, Linda Eastman captured fresh, unassuming photographs of the band that instantly garnered attention (her photos were more popular than those of the band's official photographer!) and paved the way for her to become a top rock-and-roll photographer. In May of 1968, she was the first female photographer to make the cover of Rolling Stone, with her portrait of Eric Clapton. By 1969, she had worked with the likes of Aretha Franklin, Jimi Hendrix, Bob Dylan, Simon & Garfunkel, and The Who, and had even snagged her own musician, Paul McCartney.
This retrospective tome, which captures three decades of moments from McCartney's life, includes rock-and-roll portraits, spontaneous family pictures, and studio sessions with artists such as Willem de Kooning. Selected from her archive of more than 200,000 images, each photo is entirely captivating. The volume includes forwards by Paul, Stella, and Mary McCartney, and the $70 trade edition is available June 1st.
