Obsessed

Distressed wood paneling // Passé???  I personally am in love with the look.. warm wood tones balancing out the polished concrete floors.  A large dark rug grounds the room and can pull colours out of the floors and walls to create mood.  I also like that they have chosen a sofa with high legs, it gives the illusion of more space, together with a low back for a more modern look.  This room is in my mental vault now.

For the Love of Design

So to be honest.. from time to time I find myself fumbling away on blog after blog, reading articles and following links and the route ends up being quite windy.  I then stumble upon a blog from a far away land in a completely different language... However they are STILL speaking my language through images,  and I still fall in love with the design // Even though I can't read a single word on the page.  Today I found this beautiful article, I wish I could embellish the home and it's owners.. But for these reasons you now know of; Please just appreciate its beauty as I do.  Cheers.
Beautiful juxtaposition between the indoors and out
The dark palette is dramatic and industrial where the colourful mix match Eames chairs play on the overall mood of the room.  I quite enjoy it
love love love the tile!
notice the vintage cupboard doors and radiator.. such added character

Home is anywhere I am with Y O U.

As I step into new territory, this up coming month.  I have lots to let go of, including my own apartment // However a lot to look forward to as I move in with my loving, caring, head of heals wonderful boyfriend // Still being a renter.. this is inevitably our next step... // Now we have the house (rented) and dog (perfect).. The rest will fall into place as it may.  I believe.
Every opportunity, positive or negative /// (missed or gained) // DOES happens for good reason.
One day all the puzzle pieces dreamed of will fall evenly into place, until then // Lust.

Cavaleir

Thank you for cluing me in Wit+Delight!
Cavalier Launches Today,
I own a 2005 Cavaleir and love it.. maybe that is why I am so crazy about this new line

The phrase “God is in the details” most certainly rings true for the freshly launched Cavalier Inaugural Collection. I’ve been anticipating more from Cavalier, and they did not disappoint.

Beyond the stunning lookbook, there’s a lot to explore. Some highlights:
+ Hand-stitched leather goods
+ A carefully curated Online Flea
+ Designer Mixtapes
+ Frequently updated Online Journal
You’ll find some really special pieces that would make great holiday gifts. I’m pretty much in love with this leather duffle, it’s the ultimate.

Renegade Architecture

These four designers thought they’d become something else. All four went to traditional architecture school, and all four had grand plans to follow in the hard-worn footsteps of the many greats that had come before them. But Carrie Dessertine, Dana Jaasund, Matthew Grzywinski, andAmador Pons all ended up taking unconventional routes to their present career paths. And despite doing things a little differently—or maybe because of it—these four have all turned out just fine. More than fine. They’re building and designing, and living the dream. But is the road less traveled really the best way for these designers to become the next starchitects? Especially if they’re not really architects at all?

Advise from JONATHAN ADLER

Jonathan Adler holds a very special torch for me.. He has succeeded with a style of quirky design I believe to have always had in myself.  His use of colours and playfulness carries me through-out his spaces.  Today I read in the new issue of Lonny his advise. Wow. Again.. Impressed (of course right)
Except, you know when you read an article and it sticks with you;  I have a feeling this ons is like that:
What's you biggest piece of professional advice?
JA:

Learn your craft, and hold to it.  People think I'm this wacky guy.  If only I were wacky! Of course, my designs have a certain irreverence, but that irreverence is a whisper.  Craft is where I live. Craft conquers all. and I'm hyper-self-critical about everything I do. I'm now in this extraordinary  position where I don;t have to ask anybody's permission to made anything. I have the liberty to conceive a design and then execute it. That's the wonderful thing about have a little success. It puts you in a position where you can do more work.  You can make more beautiful things. It's a really crowded world we live in, an everything in it is very disposable. That's something I find so depressing. My goal is to make singular, beautiful, non-disposable things for people to love.
What advise would you offer a young person starting a career?
JA:

Be super patient in you 20's.  Don't be too worried about the future or too terribly ambitious.  Have experience! Enjoy yourself.  Stay our all night; jiggle about on a go-go box. When I was in my early 20's, I got fired from job after job for being surly. I was constantly un-emplpyed. My parents were like, "What are you doing with you life?" Then, at 26, I quite accidentally started my pottery business. Pottery has always been my passion. Between jobs, I started teaching a class at Mud, Sweat, and tears. It was wonderful, and they gave me my own shelf where I could display my work. One day, I called Barneys, and they started selling my ceramics.  After a year, I realized I wasn't unemployed anymore; I was a potter.  So I think a misspent youth can be a marvellous thing.  When you're 30, consider getting a little more varsity about your future.

Get out of Bed!

I hope you all have had a chance to enjoy a lovely friday sleep in on this rainy Remembrance day.  Today I wanted to share with you a photo I have been holding on to for quite some time now... this is one of my favourite bedroom photos.  I love the bed for so many reasons. I am drawn in by the textures. The wood paneling gives the illusion of a large headboard and it seams as if it doesn't actually demand the space many other headboards do.  Paired with two beautiful vintage chandeliers as side lamps *also notice the tidy electrical hidden behind the paneling* The vintage glam gives the room a perfect touch. xx K

Currently Coveting...

Not only are the kids spaces flooding with inspiration... La Petite Magazine is blowing me out of the water with its style factor! These kid's have got it made! Seriously.  The presentation of La Petite's online magazine is what really drew me in!  The photography and gorgeously curated pages on top of great typography... I am definitely pulling inspirational ideas for when I reach my dream goals of ever working on an online magazine. xx K
